PxlDay Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 21, 2026
PxlDay is a camera for a daily art practice, created by Connor Tracy. This policy explains what the app processes, where your journey is stored, and how you can remove it.
The short version
PxlDay does not have developer accounts, advertising, analytics, or tracking. The original camera image is processed in memory to make the pixel grid and is never saved by PxlDay. Your pixel journey and optional private notes stay on your device and may sync through your private Apple iCloud account. PxlDay does not send that content to Connor Tracy or to developer-controlled servers.
Information PxlDay processes
When you capture a photo, PxlDay processes the live camera frame on your device to calculate the small set of colors used in the Pxl Grid image. The original frame is discarded rather than written to the app’s storage.
For a photo you choose to keep, PxlDay stores:
- the reduced Pxl Grid color values;
- the grid size and locations of open pixels;
- the date, day number, creation time, time-zone identifier, and camera-facing direction needed to organize the journey; and
- an optional private note, if you add one.
PxlDay does not collect your name, email address, precise location, contacts, advertising identifier, browsing history, financial information, or the original camera image.
Storage and iCloud
Your journey is stored locally on your iPhone. When iCloud is available, Apple’s CloudKit service may sync the journey through your private iCloud database so it can appear on your Apple devices. Connor Tracy does not operate a separate PxlDay server and does not receive or review your journey content.
Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy and iCloud terms.
Permissions
PxlDay may request:
- Camera access to create your daily Pxl Grid photo. The original image is not saved by PxlDay.
- Add-only Photos access when you choose Save to Photos. PxlDay does not read your photo library.
- Notification permission only if you turn on the optional daily reminder.
You can change these permissions in the iPhone Settings app.
Exports and sharing
PxlDay shares nothing automatically. If you export an image, milestone replay video, or journey archive, you choose its destination through Apple’s share controls or Save to Photos. Copies saved to Photos, Files, social networks, or other services are then governed by those destinations and must be deleted there separately.
Grid-only image exports, replay videos, and journey archives do not include private notes. If you choose the Day + note export, the preview and exported image include that day's note beneath the photo. Replay videos are generated locally from saved pixel grids without recording audio or the original camera images.
Retention and deletion
Your journey remains on your device and, when enabled, in your private iCloud database until you delete it.
To delete it, open PxlDay → Journey → Settings → Delete journey and confirm Delete journey forever. This removes every PxlDay photo and private note from the app’s local store and sends those deletions to iCloud. iCloud synchronization may take a short time to reach every device.
Deleting the app by itself may leave its private iCloud data available for restoration. Use the in-app Delete journey control before uninstalling if you want the synchronized journey removed. Images, replay videos, or archives you previously exported are separate copies and are not deleted by this control.
Tracking and third-party services
PxlDay contains no advertising SDK, third-party analytics SDK, cross-app tracking, or data broker integration. The app relies on Apple system services for camera access, Photos export, notifications, and optional iCloud synchronization.
Changes to this policy
If PxlDay’s data practices change, this policy will be updated before the changed version is released. The effective date at the top will identify the current version.
